Australia's first club for mothers of twins was formed in Newcastle in 1969. AMBA was subsequently formed in 1974 and is the national co-ordinating body of Multiple Birth Associations in Australia.
Members of AMBA have taken part in surveys and research studies conducted and sponsored by AMBA. These have enhanced the knowledge about multiple births for parents, medical professionals, health professionals, and social welfare and education personnel alike.
As a result of these studies, various literature - including pamphlets and several books - has been published as an aid to multiple birth parents. These are included in the club library.
The Townsville District has a very transient population, meaning many of us have no family here. It helps to speak with others who are in the same situation, or have experienced what you are going through. Our Multiple Friendships are important to us!
If you are a member of a multiple birth family, or would like to volunteer with T&DMBA, we'd love to hear from you!

The Townsville and District Multiple Birth Association Inc (T&DMBA) was formed in 1984 by a small group of mothers with twins. We now have a rapidly growing membership and provide support to many multiple birth families in the area.
We are a non-profit organisation. Our aim is to provide a means of communication, for the sharing of information and experience, on the care and raising of multiple birth children. We seek to provide this from the initial stages of finding out that multiples are expected, right through their childhood years and beyond.
Morning Tea each Tuesday 9:30am - 11:30am.
