The Townsville District has a very transient population, meaning many of us have no family in the local area. It helps to speak with others who are in the same situation, or have experienced what you are going through. Our multiple friendships are important to us!
Expectant Parent Nights
It can be daunting finding out that you’re having multiples and just being able to chat to those who have been there before us is a great comfort to most. We host regular expectant parent nights where you can ask any question that you would like, chat to other expectant parents and also chat to the hosts who are multiples parents.
We have an extensive hospital visit team who are dedicated to ensuring that every expectant or new mum in hospital is supported at every stage. Our hospital visits team is also available to support families with sick children in hospital.
If you would like a visit from someone who can talk with the voice of experience on multiples at any stage, please let us know, we’d love to help! Please click here to email one of our wonderful hospital team members.
We have a range of other specialist support areas both locally and incorporating national support services through AMBA. These include: The Multiple Birth Association Bereavement Support Group (MBABS); a Special Needs Register so that you can get the support that you need from other families facing the same challenges as yours; and the Australian Twin to Twin Syndrome Support Group.
Breastfeeding Multiples Education Class
We provide and info-packed session for parents, facilitated by the Australian Breastfeeding Association and our wonderful volunteers that have lived experience of breastfeeding multiples. These sessions aim to expand upon knowledge gained at antenatal classes, to give current information and to provide insight into breastfeeding multiples in the early days. Our aim is to provide expectant parents with the confidence to breastfeed their babies successfully!
T&DMBA members will also be gifted a year's membership with ABA. Places are limited, so early registration is essential. For more information email us here.
We have a wide range of events to cater to everyone! Our free Bubs and Bumps Playgroups are for all expectant mothers and their pre-walker babies. Our free fortnightly all-ages playgroups are for everyone with activities for the older children and areas for bubs to crawl and roll around! We have member only events every month, including at least two free-to-members events each year. We also host parent’s nights out throughout the year, family events, a Christmas party for the whole family and an adults dinner and a great program of events throughout Multiple Birth Awareness Week in March each year.
When it comes to having multiples, things can get expensive fast! Not only do we have a wide range of hire equipment, but we also have a great library with books for everyone in the family. Click here to learn more about our range.
Our regular local newsletter has everything that you need to know about our club and the events that have happened and are coming up. This is a great way to find out what is happening with the club and to find out how you can get involved.
Your T&DMBA membership also grants you access to the Australian Multiple Birth Association which includes the fantastic national discounts on offer!
We all know how expensive children can be, let alone multiples! So together with AMBA, we offer a great range of local and national discounts for everything you and your multiples family need.
We have a great fundraising program that includes an annual Mega Raffle, a Clothes Swap, Bunnings BBQ’s, Entertainment Books and other events that raise funds for our club’s activities. We usually have a good stock of multiples merchandise that also assists us to raise funds such as “Yes we are Twins” hats, stubby coolers for dads and club T-shirts.
